Exceptional Service, Exceptional People
Each and every day, Capstone Wealth Management’s team chooses to set the bar high. We leverage our separate talents and collective strengths to make a recurring commitment to bettering each other, supporting our clients, and furthering our field. You’re invited to read more about the people behind your plan, exploring our histories and the ways in which we champion you.
Capstone Wealth Management’s founder and principal, Mark Thomas, is passionate about providing financially-established men and women independent counsel and objective advice. Recognizing that clients’ lives are so much bigger than their investment portfolio, he embraces holistic planning which is grounded in genuine relationships. Nothing gives him more satisfaction than seeing years of hard work, disciplined saving, and conservative spending culminate in a relaxing retirement and an enduring legacy.
Mark’s fascination with the world of finance began early in life. As an 8th grader, he started an investment club with nine other friends, and they began to buy stock. To this day, Mark clearly remembers walking his paper route and, upon considering his future, feeling drawn to a career as an advisor. Four years later, it came as no surprise when he entered college to pursue a degree in the financial field.
After graduation, Mark returned to Montana and forged a path in the insurance industry. But, as time went on, he craved a deeper connection with clients – one where their needs took center stage and company quotas didn’t exist. With the encouragement of his wife, he visited 28 advisory practices across the country, gleaning wisdom from the brightest of minds. A dream took shape over the span of those 12 months, which Mark then fulfilled with the opening of Capstone Wealth Management.
Aside from his practice, faith, family, and fly fishing are Mark’s greatest joys. In fact, his bucket list includes catching a fish in all fifty states. Mark is an Eagle Scout and a member of the AICPA Personal Financial Planning Division. Widening his influence, he sits on the board for the Amani For Africa USA Foundation, which brings clean water to thirty thousand people, and the Special K Foundation, which offers residence on a working ranch to adults with developmental disabilities.
Through education and communication, Associate Advisor Tom Webber keeps our clients on course to their ideal retirement. He engages individuals and families in conversations about how to tackle the what ifs and the complex problems that accompany their major goals. Additionally, he oversees group Defined Contribution Plans, making sure sponsors and their employees are aware of all of the capabilities of their 401k tool.
Like Mark, Tom dabbled in stocks at a young age. Intrigued by the annual reports that arrived at his grandmother’s house, his interest in investing grew. At just 12-years-old, he walked into a broker’s office on the main street of his home town and began asking questions about how markets functioned. Later, his mom brought him back to that same office to purchase his first shares.
Romantic images of the West brought Tom, an East Coast native, to college in Montana. He built a life and career in his new home, holding various positions in local service businesses. In the back of his mind, however, Tom could never escape the urge to become an advisor himself. Finally, at 40, he decided it was now or never and joined a local office of Prudential Advisors. Six years later, Tom made the move to Capstone.
Tom and his wife, Kim, have been married for 23 years. They love watching their two children embark on new adventures, and plan to spend upcoming empty nest years traveling to parts of the world they’ve only ever read about. Since achieving his Eagle Scout award in 1988, he has been involved in scouting and currently serves the local and district council in a variety of roles. Tom’s also on the board of directors of Billings Downtown Rotary and the advisory committee of the local Volunteers of America Community.

A Client Relationship Specialist at Capstone Wealth Management for more than 15 years, Kerrie Kern is a familiar face to the clients who call our firm home. She is often the first point of contact for these men and women, greeting them by name when they enter our office. Kerrie’s influence extends well beyond warm welcomes, however, as she is tasked with processing account paperwork, coordinating distributions and cash needs, scheduling and prepping client appointments, and addressing client concerns or questions.
Before working in the financial advice industry, Kerrie was employed at a linen supply company for 9 years and a bank for 8 years. Mark was fortunate to make her one of his first hires, and since this time, she has proven to be an invaluable asset. Kerrie is an instrumental part of daily operations, as well as integral to the process of insurance consulting and placement. Similar to the rest of our team, she is driven to see the goals of our clients become a reality through thorough planning.
When away from the firm, Kerrie can be found cheering on the American Legion baseball team her husband coaches or entertaining her young granddaughter, Paisley. She and her family are also big game hunters and frequent visitors to the local gym.
